Social, Behavioural and Community Engagement Interventions for Newborn Health

Last modified date: 24 April 2017

This evidence gap map brings together impact evaluations and systematic reviews of Social, Behavioural and Community Engagement (SBCE) interventions that address the capabilities of individuals, families and communities to contribute to improved newborn health in low- and middle-income countries. It is based on a systematic search for studies published between 2000 and July 2016. It contains a sub-set of studies relevant to newborn health from an EGM of SBCE interventions for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH). The full RMNCH EGM is available from the link below:

The EGM was developed through collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO), led by the department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, working with the departments of Reproductive Health and Research; Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals; Public Health, Environmental and Social Determinants; Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases; Nutrition for Health and Development; Mental Health and Substance Misuse; Service Delivery and Safety, and 3ie.
