Social, Behavioural and Community Engagement Interventions for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child Health

This evidence gap map brings together impact evaluations and systematic reviews of Social, Behavioural and Community Engagement (SBCE) interventions that address the capabilities of individuals, families and communities to contribute to improved Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH) in low- and middle-income countries. It is based on a systematic search for studies published between 2000 and July 2016. The EGM contains 142 completed systematic reviews, 457 completed impact evaluations, 13 ongoing systematic reviews and 38 ongoing impact evaluations. 

The EGM was developed through collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO), led by the department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, working with the departments of Reproductive Health and Research; Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals; Public Health, Environmental and Social Determinants; Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases; Nutrition for Health and Development; Mental Health and Substance Misuse; Service Delivery and Safety; the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and 3ie.
