Linking shade coffee certification to biodiversity conservation: Butterflies and birds in Chiapas, Mexico

This paper provides the first ecological evaluation and comparison of shade?grown coffee criteria used by major certification programs to link shade coffee certification to biodiversity conservation in Chiapas, Mexico. The paper evaluates 5 coffee agroforestry systems with varying management regimes which qualify for different shade coffee certification programs.
